Security of Supply: Energy from the region, for the region

Regional Sovereignty Instead of Global Dependence

Those who source energy from afar purchase convenience at the expense of control. Geopolitical crises, volatile global markets, and long supply chains have demonstrated how fragile this dependence is. The answer is closer than many think: in the region itself.

Biomethane is produced from raw materials that are already generated locally. What the region produces can power the region. This principle is not an ideal for the distant future, but a direction in which we are already working today.

Base-load Capable – The Difference That Matters

Biomethane is storable and available at any time – regardless of weather, time of day, or season. This makes it the reliable backbone of a regional energy supply that meaningfully complements wind and solar but does not depend on them.

This is particularly crucial in the heating market: industrial companies need predictable process heat. Municipalities need a heat supply that does not fail even in the depths of winter. Biomethane delivers both – continuously and controllably.

The Vision: Produce Where It Is Consumed

What if heat for a community were generated from that same community’s waste materials? What if an industrial company sourced its process energy from regionally produced biomethane generated just a few kilometers away?

This idea of regional energy cycles is not a utopia – it is the logical consequence of what biomethane makes technically possible. And NAWARO® is working specifically on this: the “Klarsee” BioEnergy Park currently feeds around 60 million kWh of biomethane into the grid annually. Expansion to up to 320 million kWh is planned by 2028 – capacity intended to be specifically available for regional heat and energy supply.

The goal: To keep value creation where energy is produced and consumed. With local partnerships, short delivery routes, and a production base that is being expanded long-term.

Regional Value Creation as a Side Effect

Biomethane production does not just strengthen the energy supply – it strengthens the region. Farmers tap into an additional source of income. Local businesses are integrated. Tax revenues remain local. And organic waste materials, which would otherwise have to be disposed of, are turned into energy and high-quality fertilizer.

What NAWARO® Is Already Achieving Today

The “Klarsee” BioEnergy Park demonstrates what industrial biomethane production means in practice:

165 million kWh

Annual electricity production – base-load supply for approximately 45,000 households.

60 million kWh

Biomethane annually – today. Expanding to up to 320 million kWh annually by 2028.

24/7 Operation

with 24 production employees, state-of-the-art process control technology, and predictive maintenance.

REDcert-certified,

ISO 50001 tested, officially monitored as a hazardous incident facility according to the 12th BImSchV.

NAWARO®: Your Regional Partner for Biomethane

We supply biomethane from our own regional production – reliable, certified, and predictable in the long term. For municipalities that want to make their heat supply more independent. For industrial companies that need stable energy costs and verifiable CO₂ savings.
