Our Projects
Our goal is to lead the market, both technologically and economically, when it comes to operating industrial biogas plants in Germany. NAWARO® BioEnergie AG will construct several BioEnergy Parks in northern and eastern Germany in the coming years. We are currently planning projects in the states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and Schleswig-Holstein. The first facility, the BioEnergy Park »Klarsee« near Penkun in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, will go into operation in 2006.
BioEnergy Park »Klarsee«
In Penkun in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, close to the German-Polish border, we found ideal conditions for our first BioEnergy Park. By the autumn of 2007, forty standardized modules for generating electricity with a total capacity of twenty megawatt will be constructed here, on an area of about twenty hectares.
The first module began operation in November 2006. In the immediate vicinity of the facility, there are large agricultural enterprises that we have won as our contract partners. Thanks to feed-in points nearby, the electricity generated can be fed into the power grid. The geographical location of our »Klarsee« park is ideal. If needed, additional resources can be supplied from nearby Poland, and the Baltic Sea ports are also not far away and represent an ideal reloading point for shipping our fertilizer to international markets.
Last but not least, the fact that our company and the local authorities were able to work together very successfully was a key factor in the decision to construct the first BioEnergy Park in Penkun. Since we depend on close cooperation with the local government and other public authorities in order to develop and construct our facilities and acquire qualified employees, establishing good partnerships with them is an important issue from the first stages of planning a facility.

BioEnergy Park »Güstrow«
A second park with a capacity of twenty megawatt and which is similar in design to the first park in Penkun will be erected in Güstrow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 2007.
Preparations for this second park are already underway. In March 2006, the Güstrow City Council voted in favor of a local development plan that established a special industrial zone where the NAWARO® BioEnergy Park will be constructed.
The governmental approval process for this facility has also been initiated. And agreements with new contract partners mean that part of the supply of corn silage that will be needed when the facility goes into operation has already been secured.
What requirements should potential sites meet?
We are constantly seeking further attractive sites for our BioEnergy Parks. Potential sites should fulfill the following criteria:
- Approximately twenty hectares of industrial or commercial space should be available.
- In the immediate vicinity – a radius of about forty kilometers around the potential site – cultivated agricultural areas totaling approximately 8,000 hectares that are suitable for growing the necessary biomass resources should be available.
- Each BioEnergy Park requires approximately 300,000 metric tons of corn silage, 60,000 metric tons of manure, and nearly 20,000 metric tons of grain per year.
- Within a radius of forty kilometers, a total of about 25,000 hectares are used for agricultural purposes and are accessible by road.
- Our electricity can be fed into the power grid at nearby feed-in points on an uninterrupted basis.
We will be happy to speak to representatives of rural districts and communities that fulfill these criteria and are interested in attracting commercial ventures that utilize innovative technology and create qualified employment opportunities. You will find our contact data here
